  • The Triangular Trade

    The Triangular Trade
    The Triangular trade was a trading system set up between England, America and Africa. From England, ships would take things like clothing, guns, ironware and drink. In Africa, they would exchange this for slaves and head off for American shores. Here they would sell them to highest bidder to make a profit.After selling the slaves, traders would purchase sugars, tobacco and coffee and then head back to England. This spanned for many decades through the industrial revolution.
  • American War of Independance

    The war of independance was America wishing to free themselves and become an independant nation away from England. This eventually led to the signing of the Decleration Of Independance.
  • The First Fleet

    The First Fleet
    In May of 1787, 11 ships set off from Portsmouth in England that became known as the First Fleet. Over about 250 days, the First Fleet brought over 1500 men women and children to the shores of New South Wales from England.
  • The French Revolution

    The French Revolution
    The French revoulution could be siad as one of the largest of it's kind. It is thought to have happened beacuase of the increasinglprosperuos numbers of wealthy citizens, the poor had become aware of their injustice and participation in the American industrial revolution. An important event of this was the storming of the Bastelle on the 14th of July.

    The Rosetta Stone is Found
    The Rosetta Stone is an ancient stone tablet with Egyptian hieroglyphs and ancient Greek writing on it. It was discovered by French soldiers that were rebuilding a fort in Egypt. It was estimated to have been carved around 196 B.C.
  • The Australian Gold Rush

    The Australian Gold Rush
    In 1852, gold was discovered in Bathurst in Australia by Edward Hargraves. This discovery cuased a mass increase of the population going from aprox. 77,000 to over 540,000. The gold rush also saw a cease in convicts being shipped to Australia because it gave them a free trip to what was now the richest gold feilds in the country.

  • Abolition Of Slavery

    Abolition Of Slavery
    On the 31st of January, 1865, the 13th Amendment to the U.S. constitution abolished slavery in America. It states:
    "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction."

    Albert Einstein can be argued to be one of the greatest scientists/thinkers ever. He is most remembered for his formula E=mc2 which is mass changing into energy. He also created a special theory of relativity, the quantum theory of light and the Brownian movement

    In 1880, Thomas Edison patent the electric lightbulb (incandescent lamp) in America. Since he has done this, the modern world has revolved around this electrical, anytime and near anywhere light.

    A new era in international competition had begun in 1896 with the birth of the first modern Olympic games in Athens. It was dominated by German competitors with the best olympian, Carl Schmann winning 4 gold medals

    In June 6, 1896, Henry Ford made his first car. It was later on in 1908, Ford made the Model T Ford for production for $850.00. 4 years later, the price dropped to $575.00 and the sales soared.

    The Wright Brothers' Flying Machine
    The period of 1899 to 1905, the Wright brothers developed a program of aeronautical research and then eventually in 1903, had their first successful flight. 2 years later that machine became a practical flight device.
  • First Antarctic Voyage

    The first Antarctic voyage was conducted by Ernest Shackleton on the ship, Nimrod. This expanded the map and added a new feild of resaerch to the world.
  • The Titanic Sinks

    The Titanic Sinks
    It was in 1912 that the ship, The Titanic, sank on it's maiden voyage from England. The makers of the ship baosted that it was near un-sinkable and beacuase of this, they provided only enough lifeboats for half of the ship's passengers and crew. The sinking of this ship meant more than a 1000 lives lost and a boat, it represented the industrial revolution.
  • Franz Ferdinand's Assasination

    Franz Ferdinand's Assasination
    In 1914, the Arch-Duke of Austria, Franz Ferdinand was assasinated by members of the Serbian terrorist group, the Black Hand.

    The Russian revolution is said to be mainly caused by a loss of faith in the Russian government by the people. This was due to their economy continually going backwards, the corruption running through the government system and also Russia's involvment in WWI.

    The Treaty Of Versailles is a peace treaty that was signed by the german government and the Alied powers in 1919. This treaty contained about 440 articles. This caused Germany to lose about 14% of it's territory (in 1914) and 7 million people.
  • Ned Kelly is Killed

    Ned Kelly is Killed
    Bushranger, Ned Kelly is hung in the gallows of the Melbourne Gaol. He was famous for many things including uttering the last words of 'Such is life'.
