    Black Mask "closes" MoMA
    Members of Black Mask "closed" the Museum of Modern Art. They passed out fliers to people in the area notifying the spectators of the Museum's closure. Two men also unraveled a large canvas sign with the word "CLOSED" in front of the Museum's main entrance.

    Black Mask Wall Street Protests
    Black Mask held its first protest on Wall Street, which would last into the first week of March. Members carried signs that notified bystanders of the name changing of Wall Street to War Street.

    Black Mask and the Totalists, an allied anarchy group, led a protest in front of the Pentagon.

    Secretary of State Dean Rusk at the Hilton Hotel
    Secretary of State Dean Rusk spoke at a dinner at the Hilton Hotel. Yippies and members of Up Against the Wall Motherfucker protested the event. They threw bags of blood, smoke bombs, and flares at arriving guests.

    Founding of the Youth International Party
    Abbie Hoffman and his wife Anita founded the Youth International Party in their apartment on 30 St. Mark's Place, along with Jerry Rubin and others.
  • Grand Central "Yip-In"

    Grand Central "Yip-In"
    The Yippies held a "Yip-In" at Grand Central. The attendees numbered in the thousands and was mostly made up of young students. The event was cut short as police beat and arrested the demonstrators.

    Tens of thousands of Yippies occupied Central Park. Most of the attendees were under the influence of drugs as they danced and sang on Easter Sunday.

    The Democratic National Convention in Chicago
    Thousands of demonstrators, made up mostly of Yippies and members from the group National Mobilization Committee to End the War in Vietnam, are roughed up by Chicago policemen in what has become known as the "Chicago police riot".

    A Weathermen leadership group traveled to Cuba to meet with representatives of the Cuban and North Vietnamese governments, as well as of the National Liberation Front (Viet Cong). The American radicals were told to increase conflict on the domestic front to help the United States’ foreign foes.

    Days of Rage
    A large group of radicals, made up mostly of Weathermen, traveled to Chicago looking for nothing more than a fight. The group was inspired to make the trip by the Yippie demonstration outside of the Chicago Democratic National Convention the year before. Most of the activists wore protective gear and carried small weapons, and thus were more prepared than their Yippie predecessors to confront police officers and National Guardsmen.

    Weathermen Bomb the Home of Judge Murtagh
    Weathermen bombed the home of New York State Justice John Murtagh at 217th Street and Park Terrace West.
  • The Greenwich Village Townhouse Explosion

    The Greenwich Village Townhouse Explosion
    Ted Gold, Diana Oughton, and Terry Robbins of the Weathermen were killed in what became known as the Greenwich Village townhouse explosion at 18 West 11th Street. The group was constructing nailbombs, one of which accidentally detonated. The bomb was intended to be planted at a non-commissioned officer's dance at Fort Dix, New Jersey.

    Weathermen bombed the New York City police headquarters as a response to police repression of radical protesters.
  • Nationwide Weathermen Attacks on the Anniversary of the Cuban Revolution

    On the anniversary of the Cuban Revolution, Weathermen and allied radical groups conducted a coordinated series of bombings that occurred nationwide. The largest target is the Presidio Army Base in San Francisco, California.

    On February 28 and March 1, Weathermen detonated bombs inside of the United States Capitol Building. The Weather Underground Organization stated that this was to protest the United States' recent invasion of Laos.

    Weathermen detonated a bomb inside the Pentagon in retaliation for an American bombing raid in Hanoi. This date was significant because it was also Ho Chi Minh's birthday.
