    Birth
    Sigmund Freud was born on May 6, 1856 in Moravia, Czech Republic. His parents are Amalie Nathansohn and Jakob Freud. Sigmund Freud has two older half brothers although Freud was closer to his nephew John. Freud was born into a jewish family with his dad Jakob being a jewish wool merchant (Jay).

It was a war against the northern and southern states over slavery. The southern states wanted to keep slavery while the northern states wanted it abolished (History).

    Anna-O Trail

    Anna-O was a case on a patient named Bertha Pappenheim. She was diagnosed with hysteria which ment that she spent her day in a state of anxiety until sunset. Sigmund Freud never actually treated Bertha but she influenced his book “Studies of Hysteria”. It was a joint publication with Josef Breuer who treated Anna. The book and the case started Sigmund Freuds studies of hysteria (Costigan 81).
  • Clinical Assistance

    Clinical Assistance
    In 1882 Sigmund Freud started as a clinical assistance in the General Hospital in Vienna. He started his career studying under Theodor Meynert which was the professor of internal medicine. During this time Sigmund Freud discovered the pharmaceutical benefits of cocaine. The beneficial results of pharmaceutical cocaine was in eye surgery. But the credit for this finding was given to Carl Koller (Waude).

    Studies of Neuropathology
    Sigmund Freud left Vienna and continued his studies of neuropathology in Paris under Jean-Martin Charcot. Freud learnt that Charcot classified patients as hysterics meaning a psychological disorder in the mind rather in the brain. He was shown a demonstration of a link between hysterical symptoms like paralysis, a hypnotic suggestion implied by power of mental status rather than nerves.Freud later returned to Vienna with the phychological method implanted and abandon his faith of hypnosis (Jay).

    Sigmund Freud found in his studies in Hysteria, he proposed the idea that Physical Symptoms are often the surface manifestation of deep repressed conflicts. In the case of Anna-O she helped Freud figure out what Hysteria was. By her physical signs of paralysis, convulsion, hallucinations, loss of speech and many more helped lead Freud in the right direction. This was the turning point of Psychology in a completely different way (Waude).

    In 1899 Sigmund Freud came out with his most famous price of litterture. It was called “Die Traumdeutung”. That book was based on evidence from his own dreams. Also it was evidence from those recounted in his clinical Practice. Freud thought that dreams played a fundamental role in the ‘psychic economy’ (Jay).

    In 1902 people who were fans of Sigmund Freud they formed a group called ‘The Psychological Wednesday Society’. They all met in freuds waiting room upon his arrival to talk with Freud. Within 5 years in 1908 the committee had a total of 22 members and then renamed them selfs to ‘Vienna Psychoanalytic Society’ (Waude).

    In 1905 Sigmund Freud published another one of his famous works called "Drei Abhandlungen Zur Sexualtheorie". The publication of this book for Freud made him the “alleged champion of a pansexualist understanding of the mind”. The book was a series of three essays that explained the theory of sexuality (McLeod).

    In 1914 World War one started in Britain. President Woodrow Wilson pledged neutrality for the United States. Which was the position that the majority of Americans wanted. In Britain, however, was one of America’s closest trading partners, and tension soon occurred between the United States and Germany over the "attempted quarantine of the British Isles". Several U.S. ships traveling to Britain were damaged or sunk by German mines (Civil War)

    In 1923 Sigmund Freud devolved a better structural model of the mind to explain the “physical apparatus”. Which were id, ego and superego. They weren’t physical areas but important mental functions of the brain. He later figured out that it was the three essential parts of the human personality (Waude).

    In 1928 Brazil’s economy dropped due to the over production of coffee. This was during the Great Depression in the United Sates of America. America was the main buyer of Brazilian coffee but since America was in the depression they could not afford to buy the coffee. Brazil kept on producing the coffee and no other country bought it. There for Brazil’s eccomy droped due to the over production of Coffee (Scott).

    World War Two began because of the conflicts between Germany and Poland. Aldof Hitler tried to take control and further his ambitions of world domination. Hitler’s invasion of Poland in September 1939 drove Great Britain and France to declare war on Germany (Grun 514).

    Sigmund Freud died on September 23,1939 at the age of 83 in London, England (Jay). He was known for many discoveries of psychoanalysis. He was known as the founding father of psychoanalysis which is a method for treating mental illnesses. Freud also found a theory to explain human behavior. Sigmund Freud was a great founder and expander of psychology, he started many more scientist carrers with his theory’s and works (Martian 237).
