    Ben Franklin helped make a plan that is called the Albany Plan. He wanted the colonies to work together. The colonies did not like this plan.

    Britian and France had been enemies for hundreds of years. They were fighting over the Ohio River Valley. There were a lot of American Indians living in the valley. They became friends with the French. Britian was stronger and got land east of the Mississippi river.

    The British and French both wanted the Cherokee Indians to help them fight the war. The Cherokee Indians said they would help the British. The British built them a fort and they said, "Yes we will help you." They built the fort and gave them tools and said, "We want a fort so we can be safe."

    Pontiac's Rebellion.
    Pontiac fought against the British. He tried so hard, but he never won. So, the British won and got land. Because of the Proclamation of 1763, colonists could not go to the land west of the Appalachian Mountains.

    Daniel Boone was a hero. He was a hunter and explorer who wore a hat from racoons. He explored the Cumberland Gap. He traveled by wagon and foot. They had dogs and five other explorers. They were close to water and passed through the Indain's land. He explored the wilderness.

    William Bean was one of the first settlers. He was from Virginia. They helped build Watauga. It was in east Tennessee. It was near a river.

    James Robertson
    James Robertson settled in East Tennessee. He came from North Carolina. He also settled an area in middle Tennessee and people called him the "Father of Middle Tennessee."

    Richard Henderson wanted the cherokee Indians' land but, the Cherokee Indians said, "You need to give us something." "I'll give you tools." But Oconostota wated to give the land to Richard Henderson but, Dragging Canoe said, "That is a bad idea." The Cherokee Indians did give Richard Henderson 20 million acres of land. Richard Henderson had a lot of land and made a lot of money.

    Pioneers settled the land and built cabins. They built forts and fences. They only have one room and dirty floors. Fronteir life was hard. Corn was so important. They stuffed beds with corn. The neighbors would come over and throw a party.

    John Sevier was from Virginia. He came to the Watauga settlement. The settlers created the first government created by settlers.
