    The farmers gain 160 acres of Land from the US government. The farmers had to farm on their land for only minimum 5 years.

    This act was an act for trading between U.S government and the states. The states would give money or land grants in exchanfe for colleges.
  • Sioux War

    Sioux War
    The Sioux indians attack the white settlers to get their land back. The Sioux were said to be wild and dangerous, but that was said by Secretary of War.
  • End of Sioux War

    The Sioux war ended with all the sioux warriors and indians dying. The white settlers now owned the land completely.

    The farming boom lasted until 1870. There were thousands of farms created in the Great plains. This was also the end of the cowboys. Due to barbed wire.

    Gold was found in The black hills of Dakota Territory. Gold ended any possible chance of peace. The US troops attacked the indian territory for their gold despite the treaty.

    The U.S government gave away to 2 m. acres of formely Indian land in Okla Territory to whites. This made the white homesteaders rush for some of that land.

    This was a battle between Chief Sitting bull and General George Armstrong Custer. Custer had his Last stand during this battle and he was killed. This was the biggest victory for indians over any US army.
