Augsrt 15 1830 the colony was open to free settlers. it was astablesht in 1821.Sydney could not handel any more convics is they sent them to port Macquarie. -

in 1823 John Oxley sailed north from Sydney to explore Port Curtis (now Glandstone) and Moreton bay as possible penal.he found the brisbane river at Moreton bay and explored the lower part of it. -
