The boys were traveling on the freight train to move and explore the U.S. when a group of white men step on one of the nine boy's hands. The white men told them to get off of their train and a huge fight broke out. The nine colored boys were charged for assault also adding on rape because of the accusation of Victoria Price and Ruby Bates. -
Torture and Lynching
a crowd of over 100 people were gathered around the Scottsboro jail to lynch the boys because of the assumptions of raping two white woman. -
The Trial Begins
The trial for the Scottsboro Boys being under Judge Hawkins which the court house start to take into effect of the crimes they are raping Ruby and Victoria also the charges for assault. -
Setencings Of The Boys
Clarence Norris, Charlie Weems, Haywood Patterson, Olen Montgomery, Ozie Powell, Willie Roberson, Eugene Williams, and Andy Wright are tried in the court room and sentenced to death. Roy Wright had a mistrial because the jury wanted to sentence him to death while the prosecution wanted him for life imprisonment. -
NAACP Step In
It was from April to December which the NAACP were shocked at the speeding trials and convictions of the boys and fought to represent the nine colored boys in these trials. -
NAACP Backs Out
During one of the trials, the help of the NAACP is gone because of the frustration and confusion of the court because of their attorney that had told them to confess to it. -
Samuel S. Leibowitz Is Hired!
Samuel S. Leibowitz, a New York lawyer, is hired to defend the Scottsboro boys. He's one of the best lawyers in the country and the parents of the boys found whatever money they could to hire him. -
Haywood Patterson Sentenced
Haywood Patterson's second trial began March 27th but on April 9th the boy was found guilty and sentenced to death by the electric chair. -
Communist Party Rise!
In the many protests around the nation because of the false accusations of the trial, thousands of people in Washington D.C. march in protest of the Alabama trials. -
Judge Horton Is Removed
The Scottsboro cases are removed from Judge Horton's jurisdiction and transferred to Judge William Callahan's court. -
Judge Horton's Re-Election Defeat
Judge Horton, who had faced no opposition in his previous race, is defeated in his bid for re-election because the people of Alabama voted for the opposing judge. -
Haywood Patterson: Fourth Conviction
Haywood Patterson is convicted for a fourth time of rape and is sentenced to about 75 years in jail time because of the outcome of the trial. -
Ozzie Powell Attacks Deputy
Ozzie Powell is shot in the head by Sheriff Jay Sandlin while attacking Deputy Sheriff Edgar Blalock and had been rushed to the hospital that day because of the assault and both survived. -

Thomas Knight meets with Samuel Leibowitz in New York to discuss a possible compromise which they put in a new lawyer and Samuel can't represent the boys for this case. -
A Few Free Black Men
Roy Wright, Eugene Williams, Olen Montgomery and Willie Roberson were released after all charges were dropped against them.
