    School technology has changed over time. It started with the pencil being created to having computers with internet. The technology that is used in schools is shared between homes and businesses as well. Technology like computers helps give students easy access to information and allows more opportunities to learn.
  • The Videotape

    The videotape was invented in 1951 by Charles Ginsburg. This invention would allow teachers to show students documentaries and films that are related to what they are learning. The videotape of 1951 was a big box that stood on the ground. The newest version is videos and they can be taken on any device like phones, tablets, and even computers.
  • The Xerox (photocopier)

    The Xerox (photocopier)
    The first-ever printing machine was the mimeograph in 1940, which left the magazines wet with ink. In 1959, Chester Carlson introduced Xerox. Xerox was a photocopier that dry printed copies and was a lot easier to function. The machine made copying school paper material faster in half the time you would using the mimeograph. The xerox machine method is still being used in school today known as the printer. The printer now can hold and print much faster than the xerox machine did then.

    The first ever projector built was called "The Magic Lantern" in the late 1800s. The projector evolved to be smaller but, wasn't used in schools until the early 1960s. Roger Appledorn created the overhead projector that would be brought to and used in schools. Schools use these projectors for class meetings, presenting slides for the entire class, class work, etc. The newest overhead projector hangs on the ceiling tile in a classroom instead of being on the floor.

    The first handheld calculator was created by Jack Kilby and his team in 1967. Calculators have changed to be many things over time such as the abacus, which was composed of beads that slide along rods. Then it was able to become a device that could multiply numbers. In the beginning, teachers thought calculators would undermine basic math skills. Until it became widely used and help to many students of different grades.

    In 1972, Michael Sokolski invented the scantron that would later be used in many big tests. Before the invention of this machine teachers would have to grade everything by hand. This invention helped make grading multiple-choice answers easier and faster. The scantron is most used now for the ACT, Kprep, SAT, and other big tests. The scantron has not changed much over time except for its speed and the number of sheets it can grade at once.

    The Apple II was an invention that would start the future of creating new computers with the internet. The Apple II was made in 1976 by Steve Jobs, and it was the first computer many people saw. This invention would evolve into computers being easier to access and eventually use. This would lead to computers being used in school which would help the student reach more information in the future.

    The CD was invented by Sony and Philips in 1985. This invention allowed people to save data and files on a disk. This invention changed from CDs to flash drives which can hold data but are much smaller. The CDs allowed teachers to upload data and information like the encyclopedia to help teach their students. There are now more ways other than disks and drives to be able to save data.

    The first college that created an online college was the University of Phoenix in 1989. This helped many people who had technology but couldn't travel get courses to take college courses. Over time it evolved to most colleges going online for everyone's use. This allowed everyone to take college courses whether they were parents, just out of high school or had other things going on.

    David Martin and Nancy Knowlton invented the interactive whiteboard that helps education become more fun. This invention is still being used today and has a similar function. The whiteboard allowed students to interact with learning the information in classrooms. The interactive whiteboard also allowed the teacher to share their screens with their students.

    The First Laptop With WIFI was a big invention for the world because it allowed computers to gain access to the internet. The First Laptop With WIFI was invented by Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs in 1976. Before this invention, there were no signs of having the internet on the computer. This invention allowed Mac books to be created that allowed computers to have apps, games, and communication on computers.

    Google Classroom
    Google classroom was invented by google's workers in 2014. This allowed teachers to give students work online and shorten the amount of paper in the classrooms. This invention allowed students to get their grades back faster than they would if they did the assignment on paper. It has the main purpose of how it was created but it now allows teachers to view students' work at any time and grade their assignments faster.

    GoGuardian
    Advait Shinde created GoGuardian in 2014 to help monitor the student's software. GoGuardian still has the main focus of what it was built for but added some features like adding new admin rules. This helps teachers keep students on task and catch them if they were to cheat off of others or plagiarise. GoGuardian also collects data about the activity when the students are logged into their accounts.
