In the Battle of Mexico City, Mexican soldiers try to hold the Castle of Capultepec. However, after 14 hours of American attacking without being able to get back up, the Mexican soldiers surrender.

The Treaty of Guadalupe called for Mexico to give the U.S. 55% of its territory (present-day Arizona, California, New Mexico, and parts of Colorado, Nevada and Utah) in exchange for fifteen million dollars to pay for damage to Mexican property. The treaty was rushed to Washington, D.C.
