  • The Declaration of Independence

    The Declaration was signed on July 4th, 1776. It declared our independence from Britan, along with many reasons why we were separating from them. There are many accusations against the king and all of the horrible things he has done to the colonists. This is important because this is the day we openly defied England, and why we should be free from them. We became our own country, and it's how we became the country we are today.
  • The Signing of the U.S Constitution

    The U.S Constitution was created and signed on this day. It was created to be our government's upgrade, because the previous government was almost a complete failure. It is still the rules for our government today. This is important because it has set all the rules for us. We didn't need to think of any other way to run our country; we came up with a set plan for all generations. We had become united again.

    The Invention of the Cotton Gin
    The cotton was granted its patent on this day. Eli Whitney's invention helped southern farmers grow and produce cotton faster. It seperated the seeds more efficiently than any other way could. This invention benefitted the economic growth in our country. We became good people to trade cotton with and we're able to create jobs for people in factories. The factories created cloth for people to weave into clothes and other goods. The cotton gin made all of that possible.

    The Signing of the Indian Removal Act
    This was the day that President Andrew Jackson official signed the Indian Removal Act. This law enforced the leaving of all Native American tribes along the south. The most famous tribe to leave was the Cherokee, and they suffered along the Trail of Tears. This event impacts our nation greatly because it allows our people to move westward into the next part of America: the western lands.

    Reconstruction Era

    This timespan represents the entirety of the Reconstruction Era after the Civil War ended. Reconstruction tried to bring Southern ex-Confederate states and people back into the Union. It also gave the newly freed blacks rights, educations, money, and jobs. It ened with the Compromise of 1877. It is important because it has effected how we treat African American people today.
  • Lincoln's Assassination

    Lincoln's Assassination
    This is the day when President Abraham Lincoln was shot by John Wilkes Booth in Ford's Theatre. He and his wife were enjoying a play, when Lincoln's bodygaurd stepped out of the room to watch the play and the door was unlocked. John Wilkes Booth entered, and shot Lincoln behind his left ear at point blank range. The next day Lincoln died. This was imprtant in our country's history because Lincoln had many ideas on how to go about Reconstruction, which became very different once he passed.

    The Chinese Exclusion Act
    The Chinese Exclusion Act was a law that was passed to ban Chinses immigrants from coming into America. The Chinese were very hard workers and worked for minimum wage, which made them competition to the Americans. This act is important because it shows the racism the native born Americans had grown accustomed to. This put the Chines in a bad position. Then the law was passed, and they wee forced to leave. This law is important in our history.

    Oklahoma Land Rush
    The Oklahoma Land Rush was a time where the government opened up the terriotory in OK for anyone to take for free. It caused many people to move out West to Oklahoma to take the land. Many Native Americans relocated to other places, too This date is important in our history because it showed how much our ancestors valued land and property. It also shows the kind of sacrifices they would make.

    World War Two

    This timespan shows the effects of World War Two. It actually started earlier than 1941, but the U.S got involved on that day. December 7th was the day the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, and the day the U.S entered the war. That's important in our history because the bombing of Pearl Harbor had such an effect on Americans. We all knew that the war was coming to us right then.
  • The Apollo 11 Landed on the Moon

    This day in history is when the Apollo 11 aircraft landed on the moon. It was also when Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin took the first steps on the moon. This is important to America because it brought in lots of investments in NASA, and it brought a lot of pride for the citizens of America.
  • The Eruption of Mount Saint Helens

    Mount St. Helens was a dormant volcano in Washington State when it suddenly erupted. It blew smoke and ash everywhere, and it's eruption was as powerful as multiple sticks of dynamite. It even managed to blow the top off of the mountain! Now there is an enormus crater in its place. This event is important to the U.S because it helped scientists find other clues to when a volcano might erupt, and that way we would know in plenty of time to evacuate a dangerous area.

    This day was the day I was born into this world. I am the middle child in my family, with one older sister and one younger brother. My favorite sports to play volleyball, basketball, and lacrosse, which I love to do, and it keeps me busy with all the teams I am on. I enjoy reading in my spare time and hanging out with my friends, wherever that may be.
  • The Terrorist Attacks of September 11th, 2001

    On this day, terrorists decided to hijack many of our planes and crash them into certain buildings in our country. Two planes hit the Twin Towers, causing them to crash and fall to the ground. One plane targeted the Pentagon, and it hit its mark. Another plane was hijacked, but passengers in the plane went into the cockpit and flew the plane down. This event brought our nation together. Many selfless people stepped up to help others away from the attacks. We became united by hope.
