    despite successess in the Brussilov offensive, the Russian war effort is still characterised by shortages, poor command, death and disertion. Away from the front, the conflict causes starvation, inflation and torrent of refugees. Both soldiers and civilians blame the incompetence of the Tsar and his government.
  • Febuary 6

    Duma reconvened.
  • Febuary 29

    After a month of strikes at the Putilov factory, the Government conscripts workers and takes charge of production. Protest strikes follow.
  • June 20

    Duma prorogued.
  • October

    Troops from 181st regiment help striking Russia Renault works fight againts the police.
  • November 1

    Miliukov gives his "is this supidity, or treason?" speech in reconvened Duma.
  • December 17- 18

    Rasputin is killed by Prince Yusupov.
  • December 30

    The Tsar is warned that his army won't support him against the revolution.
