After Juliet takes the potion, she appears to be dead so that Romeo can come to the Capulet vault and get her.

Romeo receives news of Juliet's "death" and gets freaked out. He buys a poison and goes to the Capulet vault to kill himself by Juliet's side.

Romeo kills himself thinking Juliet is dead, but Juliet wakes up a few minutes after he dies. She then kills herself and a watchman notices dead bodies. He notifies the Prince and the families. When they all get to the vault the Prince says that the children's deaths have ended the feud between the familes.
