Roman Beginnings

  • Founding of Rome

    Founding of Rome
“Founding of Rome” describes the legend of Romulus and Remus and the birth of Rome. Romulus and Remus were having a conflict and Remus ended up dead in the end. Remulus built the city of Rome on the Palatine in 800 b.c. and named the city after him. Rome! The fact that he named the city after him tells me that he was probably very vain and arrogant. These hills are still very important in Roman lives today. I can infer that these seven hills symbolize something very specific for Romans.
  • "The Etruscans" Daily Life

“The Estruscans” explores the daily routine of an etruscan citizen. The Etruscans lived in the 800 b.c. Etruscans had a very intelligent way of life. They were easy-going and fun. Their women had privileges. They could own land and they were considered citizens.
  • "The Etruscans" Religion

The Etruscan's rligion was a big part of their life. The Etruscans were always having fun. They had many religious parties with music and they would dance until the morning. They had a very famous instrument called the double flute.
  • "The Etruscans" at war

They had an extra boost when they went to war. They invented sandals. This tells me that the Etruscans were always one step ahead of the game. They were smart and sfillful. Because of these Etruscans being pirates, I can infer that the sea was very important for them in many ways. For travel and trade, but also war.
  • "Etruscans and Romans" architecture

“Etruscans and Romans” clarifies that the Etruscans helped the Latins with inventions and they taught them many things, like sewers and arches. The fact that they shared architecture tells me that they kind of had an alliance which was later broke. Although the Etruscans were more culturally advanced than the Romans they still agreed to teach them other things besides architecture.
  • "The Etruscans and Romans" customs

The Romans also borrowed other Etruscan customs, like the fights between slaves that used to occur. That was a model for the Roman Gladiators. The Etruscans also introduced the Romans into some religious beliefs. The Etruscans helped them build Rome’s first temple on one of the seven hills.Today it is the center of Rome’s municipl.I can infer that this temple was and is still tody very important for religion and in general, because it is at the center of Rome it’s probably important for all Romans.
