Women's Role in the 1920s
Women in the 1920s were expected to be at home, taking care of the house, the children, and the cooking and cleaning, Near the end of the decade, women were granted voting rights and their role had started changing since men were not the only ones with influence on the government. Women in this time also started dressing less formally and some came to be known as flappers, as they wore loose clothing and begain doing activities outside what they were expected to at the time. -
Women's Role in the 1950s
The role of women in the 1950s were similar to those in the 1920s but the difference is that single women in the 1950s were severely looked down upon. Women in this age were expected to be married above all else, and that includes dreams and aspirations. They were still expected to be be-at-home moms while the husband had the job and was the only one required to leave the home. Women who chose to work when they didn't need the paycheck were often considered selfish. -
Women's Role in Today's Time
Women today are a lot mroe autonomous then just staying at home. Women nowadays hold high ranking jobs in places ranging from business to government. As the women's rights movement finally passed and they were granted more economic and political opportunity, they took up the chance and have had successes in their endeavors. For example, Sarah Day O'Connor became the first woman to be an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court, a very complex and revered position within the court system.
