  • The sugar act

    This act was a major start to the revolution, taxing the colonist for imported sugar. This started the boycotts and slogan "No taxation without representation" as for the colonist did not have reprisentation in parliament
  • The Stamp Act

    The stamp act was passed on march 22nd, 1765. It required all coloial citizens to py taes on all printed products like mail or newspapers.Patrick Henry Wrote the Stamp act of Resolves that was soon adopted by the House of Burgesses.
  • The townshend act was passed

    Passed to tax products like glasses, tea, and paper. The tax was paid once the goods arrived. This caused boycotts organized by the duaghters of liberty.
  • The Boston Massacre

    British troops where sent to boston after the Townshend act was passed to control boston.On March 5 Things esqulated, a large angry crowd has gatherd against a british regiment. So a riot broke out and and a the troops opened fire on the colonist, killing 5 adn wounding 6. All taxes exept the tea tax was repealed and the quarterly act was lifted.
  • The Boston Tea party

    With the exeption of tea several taxes on products have been lifted. But the colonist still boycotted all tea products.They purchused smuggled tea instead of imported tea. So the british passes the tea act allowing east indian companies to bypass the colonial wholesale. The colonist being unhappy with this demanded the act be recalled. When the Government did not a group of men called the Sons of Liberty dressed as native Americans snuck on ship and dump the tea into the harbor.
  • The Intolerable Acts

    Parliment responderd to the Boston tea party with a series of laws called the Coercive Acts. These laws where used to punish the colonist for resisting British rule. One act forced all colonist to let Soldiers live among them. One act banned town meetings in Massachusetts. Another closed Boston Harbor, hualting all shippment of food and supplies. Disigned to cut off Massachusetts from other colonies, but it brought them together.
  • First Continental Congress

    On this day 55 delegats gatherded in philadelphia. Formed to represent colonist and challange british control. Leaders of 12 of the 13 colonies attended the meeting. Patrick Henr brought up the idea of the colonies uniting to fight britain.
  • Battles of lexington and concord

    In 1775b Hundreds of british troops swept trough massachusets to destroy the weapons and supplies the colonist had stored in Concord. When word reach colonist they moved the supplies to onother location and preparded the local militia for battle. When the british reached Lexington the Minutemen where ready for battle but where greatly out numbered and fell back. So the British army moved forward to Concord but was stoped at the North Bridgethis time forsing the remaining british soldiers to run.
  • 2nd continental congress

    This events authorized the printing of money and setting up post offices. It also formed commities to handle relations with the native americans and foreign countries. Also it created the continental army. More than the local malitia it could carry out stratiges for fighting the british.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    William Presscott set camp on breed and bunker hill this day. the next ay the red coats asembeled to take the hill. Low on ammo, Prescott ordered, "Dont fire till you see the whites of their eyes". The red coats charged 3 times but had to retreat each time. Once Prescott ran out of ammo he ordered a withdraw. A british victory, they still suffered heavy loses.
  • Common sense

    thomas Paine wrote Common sense to inspire people to rise up against the britsh and fight for Freedom, this working drew the colonist together and against the british
  • The Declaration of Independence was Issued

    The Declaration of Independence was presented to the delagets of the second Continental Congress. This docuent stated the rights and responsibilities for all citizens of the United States.
  • The colonist vote for Independence

    At the 2nd continental congress the 12 out of 13 colonies voted for independence exept for New York who later showed their support.
  • The Declaration of Independence

    This day the 2nd continental congress aproved of Thomas Jefferson's draft and had all 56 delagetes sign it, declaring their independence from Britain.
