  • Proclamation of 1763

    This act, imposed by the Britsih, assured that the colonists would not settlel west of the westward. This included the Ohio River valley. It also stated that the Native American's were under protection of the king. The colonist where upset, the land they had risked their lives was prohibited.
  • Sugar Act

    The Sugar act increased taxes on exporting things like coffee because they where foriegn imports, yet lowered taxes on molasses. The enforced taxes lowered the rum sales and angered colonist. It set the stage for the rebellion of the Stamp act.

  • The Currency act

    Since there was a shortage of currency in the colonies they began to print there won, until the currency act was passed, this prohibited the use of these printed bills. The angered colonists protested, but they had to endure the trade deficit.
  • The Stamp Act

    The stamp act made almost all paper material need a stamp. The fact that British officers needed to stamp all their papers angeried the colonist. They started to oppose it, saying it was unjust because the British taxed them directly and did not ask for colonists agreement . They were insulted by the fact the British did not ask the colonial legislature.
  • Quatering act

    This act was to make the army and protecting the colonist cheaper by making the colonist pay for the army's needs, like bedding candles and cider. The colonists did not like the idea of possibly being kicked out of their homes and where suspicous of the army.

    "...That the officers and soldiers so quartered and billeted as aforesaid (except such as shall be quartered in the barracks, and hired uninhabited houses, or other buildings as aforesaid) shall be received and furnished with diet..."
  • The Stamp act of Congress

    In a meeting 9 representives came to end the stamp act with parliment. The stamp act was heavily protested by the colonist. The stamp act was repealed, or ended. The colonists where relieved it had stopped, but their spirts where soon crushed by the Declatory act.
  • the Tw=ownshed act of 1767

    This was an attempt by the Britsih t earn money and not the bad publicity. The premise was to tax basic needs like tea and paper because the colonies did not manufacture them . This far into the struggle everyone opposed any taxes, so they boycotted and protested the act.
  • Declatory Act of 1776

    After the Stamp act Repeal British made this act to make all laws and taxes and to say the parliment's authority was the same in Brittian and America's. The colonist felt, "...had, hath, and of right ought to have, full power and authority to make laws and statutes of sufficient force and validity to bind the colonies and people of it" was harsh. They felt powerless and forious.
