    The French and Indain war was fought between France and Britain over the Ohio River Vally. Britain won the war and clamed it. the reaction from colonists point of veiw is they were happy they won the war but didnt know what was coming next. Ben Franklin tried to to make The Albany Plan of Union during this time.

    The Proclamation of 1763
    The Proclamation of 1763 banned all colonists from settling west of the Appalachian Mountains. The colonist wanted to live in the land that they just won after winning the French and Indian War. The Proclamation was widely ignored because it was impossible for the British to enforce it.
  • Suger Act

    The British put tax on sugar, molasses, and other things. Smugglers had harsh punishments. The colonies boycotted the sugar act and sent petitions to England. This leads James Otis to write the phrase "taxation without representation is Tyranny".For more info

    Colonist had to buy an addition stamp for documents like wills, contracts, and newspaper, and even playing cards. The colonist demanded the tax be repealed. In response to the act the colonist burned paper. Started the stamp act congress in New York city.

    The Quartering Act made colonist feed and house British soldiers. This lead to some refusing to let soldiers in their home. Colonist feel that their rights as English citizens have been violated.
  • TownShend Act

    TownShend Act
    The British said that they would stop taxing things in the colonies, so they taxed the imports. The imports that they taxed are lead, tea, glass, etc. The writs of assistance allowed British officials to search ships. The colonist said that there rights were being violated. So the colonist started smuggling.

    The general said to hold fire. One British soldier claimed he hear fire. The first person shot was an african american Crispus Attucks. Five people total were killed Mr. Samuel Adams, Mr. James Caldwell, Mr. samuel Averick, and Mr. petrick Carr.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    The Tea Act in 1773 forced colonist to only buy tea from the British East India co. Tea was raced to 3 pence a pond, and the British East India co. could decide who and who can’t sell the tea. The British had a tea monopoly and colonial tea merchants were going out of business.

    Colonists were mad about the tea taxes, so many colonists dressed as native Americans threw 90,000 puonds of tea off British ships. that is equal to a million $ in today's money. They threw tea of of the ships Eleanor, Beaver, and Dartmouth.
  • Coercive/Intolerable Act

    Coercive/intolerable Act was passed in 1774 closed the ports of Boston until the tea was paid for. Trail for the people who dumped the tea were being held in England (so England had an support advantage of the colonist) it also banned town meetings and more strictly enforced the Quartering Act.
  • Lexington and Concord

    Lexington and Concord
    700 British troops headed to Lexington and Concord to seize munities. At Lexington and Concord there were 77 minutemen waiting for them. Shots were fired and it got the nickname “The Shot Heard ‘Round the World “and it was the first time there were soldier vs. soldiers before. That’s when the war started and the war would change history
  • Paul Revere's Ride

    Paul Revere's Ride
    Britain sent troops to concord. Billy Dowes was the first to start his ride that "The reglas are coming". Paul Revere starts his ride after he gets the signal with the two lanterns in the church. Later they were captured near lexington.
