Attack at Fort Sumter was the first battle in the American Civil War. Once the Union had attack Fort Sumter seven more states droped out of the Union. Although the battle was two days long, not one person died from the battle.

On a party boat one of Calinda's friend, that she has not seen in ages, asks her to dance with her and the Pruitts find out she is a very good dancer.

Cass and Calinda become really close friends and almost seem to speak a foriegn language that no one else understands.

The Battle of Bull Run was the first major land battle in the Civil War. In this battle the Union General Irvin McDowell moved 35,000 troops down to Manassas, Virginia to attack the Confederate army. After a hard fought battle the Union army prevailed and now could attack the Confederate capital of Richmond.

Delphine gives mother a beautiful dress and she then puts it in her death drawer so she can be buried in it.

This was the first combat test for General Grant. General Grant led his troops into the Confederate's camp and ambushed them. General Grant won at Belmont and later destroyed the camp.
