English Civil War

1642-1651 A war between King Charles I and Parliament over the control of the English Government. Parliament wins the war and Oliver Cromwell becomes Lord Protector of the Commonwealth of England.

Steamboat

Aug 7, 1807

John Fitch built four different steamboats between 1785 and 1796. He was unsuccessful at getting them to work. Robert Fulton built the first successful steamboat named the Clermont. The steamboat carried people and goods from one place to another. Improved travel with speed up to 5 miles per hour.

Typewriter

Jan 1, 1868

Christopher Sholes invents the first commercially successful typewriter in 1868. The typewriter would change everything in writing and lead the advancement of the keyboard laptop today.

Assembly Line

Dec 1, 1913

The development of the assembly line is created by Henry Ford with the Model T. The assembly line made things faster and changed factory conditions for today.

Tank

Sep 1, 1915

British soldiers Ernest Swinton and William Hankey came up with idea on building the first tank. Tanks changed warefare in World War I to present day. Tanks made it easier for armies to defeat the enemy.
