To estimate how many refugees can be successfully integrated in Kozani, we have to take into consideration our population and, of course, the number of places in our city, where it's safe for them to stay permanently. So, the residents of Kozani are 70.000 at the moment and regarding the safe places for the refugees, we can welcome more than 2.000 people. -
All over our town, there are many abandoned and vacant houses that can be offered to the refugees as a permanent residence. The NGO's can undertake to pay a nominal rent to the people that will offer their vacant properties to the refugees. -
The refugees, should work and spend their time productively so they won't feel depressed. So, the permanent residents of our town should provide them with job opportunities. They can help at jobs that don't require specialization, such as helping the local producers or cleaning houses and they will receive a payment for their work. They can also be hired at local shop or super markets so that they'll feel welcomed and useful in our society. -
Our school can significantly help at the refugees' integration in our town. We can collect food and medicines, old clothes and toys which we can donate to the refugees. In addition, teachers can organise special lessons for refugees in Greek to help them get acquainted with the language. Also, old students can help younger refugees with their homework, when they have the time, and can make them feel welcomed by hanging out with them or by inviting them to parties. -
The integration of the refugees in our city will have many benefits for our local community. They will rise the population by settling here and they will help in local economy. They will work at local shops and they'll spend the money, that the NGO's will provide them with, by shopping localy. In addition, the NGO's will, probably, undertake to pay a nominal rent to people that will offer them their vacant houses and this will provide many locals with extra money.
