    Religious Reform

    This was in response to the Second Great Awakening. This movement was against alcohol, tobacco, and profanity. Their main goal was to protect unreligious people from their own sin.

    This reform movement wanted to be able to grant education to the public especially poor and those who resided in the south. Making a public education system was the plan. Over time Americans realized that the children weren't being educated based off of their class. This movement wanted to grant public education no matter the class

    Abolitionism Reform

    The abolitionism reform was an anti-slavery movement. It attempted to abolish slavery in the South, give equal rights to African Americans, to guarantee said rights through congress, and to better the thinking of Americans

    Women's Rights Reform

    The goal of this movement was to make political, economic and social of women equal to those of men. Important leaders of this movement was Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Stanton. Before this, women were not allowed to vote, have property rights, were completely dependent on men etc.

    Temperance Reform

    This reform movement was to limit the heavy drinking of Americans. This movement was connected with the Second Great Awakening or religion, wanting them to become more godly and better themselves. Some wanted to replace the use of alcohol with a bible.

    Prison Reform

    This reform movement was for the treatment of the mentally ill and to better the institutions to help them. Before, the conditions of jail were uncmfortable because of the lack or room in the cells and poor hygiene facilities and the amount of people crowded in each cell.
