  • Heinrich Hertz

    Heinrich Hertz
    He proved that he could transmitt electricty in electromagnetic waves. He started by doing many experiements. He then showed experiments in sending and recieving waves.
  • Radio's 1st inventor

    Radio's 1st inventor
    Marconi was an Italian Inventor.
    He sent and recieved the 1st radio signal around 1895.
    Some people say that he was or wasn't the 1st person to do this. Mostly people say it was him.
  • Audion Tube

    Audion Tube
    Lee DeForest invented(or borrowed) the Audion Tube in 1906. It was a vacuum that allowed applification of radio signals. It basically looked like a light bulb with a bunch of wires connected to it.

  • Marine Industry

    The radio helped the marine industy. Without radio there was no way to communicate. If there was no radio then no one would have survived the titanic. On water there is no way to send a signal like how you can on land. Radio would help send signal to long distances

    Uncle Charlie used his own personal radio sation to take viewers which angered the regular radio stations. That made them lose commercials

    When uncle Charlie became popular other radio stations lost listeners. Uncle charlie kep being able to get in their signal and he used his own personal radio station. This caused radio stations to create the FRC Organization. It organized for personal radio station to get licensed transmitters
  • THE GOLDEN ERA

    THE GOLDEN ERA
    From the 1930's to the 1940's was the Golden Era for radio. The war was about to begin and theere was a great depression. This made people want to listen to the radio and most of the money they made, they bought a radio with that money
  • Call letters

    Call letters were used to name a radio station on different parts of the counrty.
    W- means that stations east of the mississippi river started with w in their radio station name.
    E- means stations west of the mississippi river started with k in their radio station name.
  • Television came out

    In 1935 a berlin man created television. He made the first televison presentation. Although it wasn't very popular until the 1940's, tv was a big deal.
  • Radio starts failing

    Radio starts failing
    when tv became popular advertisments starting moving on tv. This made radio stations get less money causing them to loose radio stations. Mostly on radio at this time was tv shows and now that tv had a visual view, shows didn't want to be on radio.

    Elvis was the most popular man and he is the king of rock. People love to listen to him and they said that he was pretty good lookng.
