Elizabeth Tudor was born on September 7th, 1533 in Greenwhich United Kingdom. She was the daugher of Anne Boleyn and henery VIII. Her half sister was Mary I whom which she took over after. Englands war with Spain
Philip II sent the Spanish Armada. Philip II was catholic and wanted to defeat protestant England. His wife had been the half sister of Elizabeth I. Spanish treasure had been taken from ships heading back to spain. England used longer and lower ships with long range ability and defeated the Spanish Armada on July 29, 1558. Elizabeth I needed a religious settlement for Tudor England because of the years of religious turmoil her subjects had experienced. Queen Elizabeth I wanted to build a stable, peaceful nation with a strong government, free from the influence of foreign powers in the church and the state. Treaty of Edingburgh is written
The Treaty of Edingburgh was drawn up on July 5, 1560. France and England would withdraw all their forces from scotland. Mary I would stop using the arms and signs of England in Scotland. The Thirty Nine articles was agreed by Elizabeth
Queen Elizabeth I reigned after Mary I.A new statement of beliefs was needed to deal with Doctrine. In 1563 the Canterbury Convocation revised the previous articles and Elizabeth I made additional changes. Conrad Gesner was swiss and studied medicine. He is recognized for his achievements as a compiler, encyclopedist, natural scientist and physician. In 1564, he recieved an imperial patent of nobility. Gerardus Mercator invents the Mercator map projector
Gerardus Mercator, a flemish geographer, invented the Mercator map projector. This map projection was used to portray the round earth on flat surface. It gets rid of any distortion. He was also the first to use the word 'atlas' for a collection of maps. This event is significant because the importance of this was that maps lost the distortion and were more accurate. A tidal wave destroyes the sea walls from Holland to Dutland
On November, 1570, a tidal wave destroyed the sea walls from Holland to Dutland. More than 1,000 people were killed. It destroyed the harbor at Hague and all the jutland country was immersed in water. Early in 1571, Roberto Ridolfi,the Bishop of Ross and others plotted to overthrow Elizabeth and put Mary, Queen of Scots on the throne. Spain was involved and would invade England. The Gregorian calender was adapted in Italy, Portugal, Poland and Spain. It was deigned by Luigi Lilio and named after Pope Gregory. It replaced the Julian Calender which wasnt accurate. Galileo invents the pendulum clock
Galileo was born in italy. He saw a lamp swinging in a cathedral. Using his pulse to time swings, he discovered the law of the pendulum which eventually would be used to regulate clocks. this led to his study of time intervals and his idea for a pendulum clock. a Bond of Association is signed by Elizabeths supporters
In June of 1584,a Bond of Association was signed by Elizabeths supporters. It stated that it was a prevention of those who plotted against the Queen to suceed the throne if an assasination was successful. The plottters would be presecuted and killed. In November Elizabeth amended it because she did not want people punished for the action of others.
This event is significant because it stopped thoe who supported Mary Stuart from taking part in any more plots against the Queen.

Anthony Babbington tries to asassinate Elizabeth
In 1586 Anthony Babbington, a former page under Mary, Queen of Scots was head of a secret society that aimed at helping Jesuit infiltrators coming into England to get rid of Elizabeth, the heretic. The Pope approved. Plot to assisinate was undercovered by Sir Francis Walsingham, her spymaster. On March 24, 1603 Queen Elizabeth I died. she hadruled for almost 45 years. The question of succesion to the throne was still not resolved. James VI, King of scotland was her succesor.
