    DECLINE
    The crash in the New York stock exchange began a dramatic decline of world economics resulting in about 10 years of poverty throughout the world many families were left with no money and most were unemployed. The last resort was to sell all that was owned which left families with nothing. This was a time of decline in Canada because it ruined many peoples lives.
  • 1931 relief policy

    PROGRESS
    In 1931 people of Canada were struggling to make ends meet. Not many jobs were available and food was scarce. The prime minister at the time felt the need to help the people, so he developed the relief policy for men that needed to provide for their family. instead of money, coupons were used to buy certain necessities. The relief policy despite some problems was a good thing and a great time of progress for Canada.

    During Adolf Hitler's reign over Germany he acted upon his utter hatred towards the Jews by persecuting them in ways such as, taking their items, placing them in ghettos, concentration caps and sometimes even killing them. In order to avoid these things 907 Jewish Germans boarded the SS St.lewis to live a better life. the voyage ended up bringing them to Canada. But the government would not allow them into Canada. so they sent them back to Europe where they were killed.
  • 1939 Canada declares war

    PROGRESS
    After WW1 the allies were trying their best to prevent another war. for almost 20 years their attempts were successful as their were no real threats to trigger the war. However in 1935 the Nazi party of Germany started taking back land that they felt was rightfully theirs.
    And started to declare war. on September 3 ,1939 they invaded Poland and than that's when they took it to far so Great Britain and France declared war and a week later so did Canada. This was huge for Canada.
  • Internment of Japanese Canadians- 1942

    DECLINE
    On December 7, 1941 the Japanese bombed pearl harbor, Hawaii leading the us declaring war the attack also paranoia in Canada as they now feared that Japanese Canadians were threats to our country so the government passed the war measures act which gave them the right to strip away anyone's civil rights at any given time or moment, they believed that there were many Japanese spies so Canadians began to hate Japanese Canadians so they were sent to camps. This left a dark mark on Canada.
  • Operation Jubilee - 1942

    DECLINE
    In 1942 the Canadian troops had nothing to do so they often spent days and nights drinking and enjoying themselves instead of serving combat. The allies decided in order to keep them busy they decided to invade Dieppes in France which is currently in Nazi's control. Unfortunately the plan failed miserably as the Germans were better prepared for the raid and completely stopped the Canadians of the 5000 Canadians 1000 died. This plan was awful Because the Canadians were not prepared.
  • Battle of Ortana - 1943

    PROGRESS
    The Italians were main allies of Adolf Hitler and Germany the allied troops knew that they had to take over Italy to minimize the Axis power so they launched an Italian campaign to conquer the whole land. the Canadians and Germans had met at the ancient village of Ortana, the battle destroyed the area completely. For the Canadians the Ortana was the deadliest battle of the Italian campaign. Fortunately the Ortana also resulted in Canadian victory.
  • D-day 1944

    PROGRESS
    In 1944 the Allies decided to start to try to restore France and take over the German occupied Western Europe. In order to so they planned to launch an invasion of the beaches of Normandy in France. The Canadians landed on Juno Beach in a plan that was expected to take 90 days to free Normandy. Amazingly Canadian soldiers the Allies took the beaches in 75 days. This invasion led to a line of success for the allies as they worked together. Canada played a huge role in the success.
  • Liberation of Netherlands 1945

    PROGRESS
    At the end of the war main Ally armies made their way into Germany to put the finishing touches on their victory. The Canadians were given a job, to liberate the Netherlands. The country was still under the control of the Nazis.shortly after the Germans agreed to remove their troops from Holland. The Canadians helped the Dutch get back to being a prosperous land and they were now free. This earned us much appreciation and respect from the Netherlands.
  • Surrender of Japan 1945

    PROGRESS After the surrender of Germany, Japan remained the only barrier in the way of ending the war. They persisted on continuing the war by sending suicide bombers to bomb US Naval ships. On August 14, 1945 Japan surrendered putting an end to the war for good. Through Canadians working on this bomb the horror and pain of World War II ended and our country were now allies with the most feared nation in the world. This was a huge for Canada as the nation was a great contributor to the victory.
