Process of Identification for Students with EBD

  • Data Review

    IEP team reviews data to see if additional testing is necessary.
  • Additional Evaluation

    Parents have the right to independent evaluation and the evaluation should have a part in eligibility discussion.
  • Decision Making

    IEP team considers all information and makes decisions based on individual student's unique needs.
  • Referral

    The IEP team receives or initiates a referral or reevaluation for a student.
  • Additional Information

    If an additional evaluation is needed, the evaluation is conducted, the IEP team will reconvene to examine data and determine elgibility.
  • Determination

    Determination cannot be based on criteria from non school-based agencies. Students may or may not be identified for special education services regardless of other labels or diagnosis.
