    When the U.S. purchased the Louisiana Territory from the french.The U.S. paid 11,250,000 dollars plus cancellation of debts worth $3,750,000, for a total sum of 15 million dollars (less than 3 cents per acre) for the Louisiana territory.This was almost double the size of the U.S. back then, purchased by Thomas Jefferson.

    This act was meant to guard against the threat of anarchy, they passed this act while under threat of the french during the war.The purpose of the sedition act was to silence republican criticism of the government. Many Americans agreed that the alien and sedition act were unconstitutional.

Many groups were formed in order to stop the taxing. The rebellion ended when President Washington and Alexander Hamilton sent 15,000 troops out to suppress the rebellion.
