There are pre-primary and pre-election debates that are sponsored by the Commission on Presidential Debates. Parties also use ads and blogs to advertise for their candidates. Organizations donate money to support the candidate that they believe follows the same beliefs.

Caucuses and primaries are the two methods for voting for candidates. Some states use a combination of them, called a mixed system. Caucuses are more open and public, while primaries are more secretive and private.

Election day is always the first Tuesday of the first Monday in the month of November. Registered voters aged 18 and older vote for their candidate of choice. They do not have to be affiliated with a party to vote.

Voting for a president is really voting for an elector to cast their vote for them. The electoral college has a seperate voting day where they cast the votes that count for election of the President.
