    The Marshall Plan was assistance for Europe. After their economic disaster, other nations created this aid to potentially "rescue" Europe, although the Soviet Union refused the service.

    NATO, standing for North Atlantic Treaty Organization, was an alliance formed of 10 European nations as well as the US and Canada to try and discourage Soviet expansion in Europe.

America tested out the first bomb called the Hydrogen or Thermo-Nuclear in 1952, beating the USSR of the creation of the first "Super Bomb". The ultimate goal of the arms race was to gain superiority of weapon accumulation.

    The space race was a competition between the US and USSR. Both nations were trying to beat one another to gain spaceflight cability power. The Sputnik, an artifical satellite launched by the Soviets, literally launched off the Space War.
