    Samuel Beckett's legal settlement

    In 1884 Beckett threatened to take away his play "Endgame" from being put on at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge Massachusetts because a conflict from the director. The director JoAnne Akalaitis relocated the action in the play to a subway station and casted black actors in place of the white ones. Brockett wasn't happy. They made a legal settlement to continue with the play, but Brockett had a disclaimer stating this productions approach was "completely unacceptable". (Brockett 160).

    Richard achieved his first critical success of a play still as a student at Yale School of Drama. The play that was first successful was Life Under Water. His plays resembled issues of loneliness, misunderstandings, and the inability to connect. (Brockett 264).

    In the 1980's to early 1990's original playwright was still going on. There was a lack of new playwrights, so audiences had came to a result that British playwright has stagnated. (Brockett 263).This is where in-Yer-Face Theatre came along. A group of confrontational young adults created this new style of theatre.It grabs audiences attention from the beginning scene, some even by the title. They did this by adding violence, graphic, and breathtaking content.

    Shakespeare's Globe opened on the south bank

    Shakespeare Globe was opened in London. It is a historical theatre that tis open to this day. The Globe was a process to put together that started in 1949 wi th a trust put together by Sam Wanamaker. They spent 23 years putting a plan together and in 1993 the plot was put together and finally in 1966 it became a reality.

    Parks marked the history of colored women through American theatre. In the year of 2002 she was the first female African American dramatist to win the Pulitzer Prize with her play Topdog/Underdog. It became the most popular play by an African American female.

    The musical "Wicked" has came a long was since the beginning. This play opened at Apollo Victoria in 2006. Since then the performance has became one of the most popular ones in the west end. It is a retelling of the play "The Wizard of Oz".

    We go to see plays to settle our nerves, but little did the cast and audience know what was ahead during the musical "The Curious Incident of a Dog in the Night time" the roof of the Apollo Theatre collapses. 58 people were hospitalized, but there were no fatalities. It came to the conclusion that it happened because of weak and old materials. (London Theatre).

    In 2020 all things changed, especially theatre. Due to the Coronavirus many things closed down and did not plan to reopen until the following year of 2021. Some theatre's closed down due to loss of funding because they could not put on anything that involved people getting close to each other.
