  • Industrial Revolution and population growth

    The industrial revolution was the expansion of products made by businesses and expansions of existing fields, such as science and the medical field. People started to migrate because of the expansions to the travel industry and recourses, which ultimately resulted in population growth. For a while, this was sustainable because of the large amounts of goods, but the population kept increasing which means there is soon going to be more demand than supply.
  • End of Napoleonic Wars and Significance of British Hegemony

    The end of the Napoleonic Wars left Britain with new powers and hegemony over foreign countries. As Napoleon hunted for power and had a mission for over ruling governments, many countries struggled to gain power. But after Napoleon lost the battle at Waterloo against Britain, Britain rose to power and became extremely prominent in the modern world.
  • Tasmania's Black War

    When Tasmania began colonisation by the British, George Arthur set up a legal system which forced Aboriginal Tasmanians off of their land and allowed them to be treated like criminals. From this, the Black War started out of frustration from both sides. As a result, the Indigenous Tasmanian count decreased to 2000.
  • Ned Kelly

    Throughout Ned Kelly's life, he left behind a contestable legacy. The incidents that occurred during his time were perceived differently by different people and also some peoples perspective were not able to be heard, which left a constable nature surrounding Ned Kelly's legacy.
  • The Boxer Rebellion

    The Boxer Rebellion was a group of people who rebelled against imperialism in China. These people fought against the growing imperialist government. The Boxer Rebellion gained this name because the participants were skilled in martial arts.
  • Socialism reaches peak popularity.

    The socialist movement became popular in 1917 due to the Russian Revolution. During this time many political parties started to base their policies and morals around socialism. This included the German Social Democratic Party and world leaders, such as Vladimir Lenin and Mao Zedong. Socialism adopted policies like universal healthcare, free university tuition and higher taxes for the wealthy.
  • Battle of Beersheba

    At the Battle of Beersheba, a group of men of the 4th Australian Horse Light Brigade stormed the town of Beersheba. This historic event saved the town from being destroyed by Turkish forces. It was important that this town was claimed by these men as the town would've been taken from Australians. There are many commemorative services that occur in honour of this event.
