    Proclamation of Neutrality
    George Washington signed the Proclamation of Neutrality which is America stay neutral and avoid conflict in other countries. France and Britain were fighting a war at the time. Britain wanted America to pick a side but America stayed neutral. After the war, Britain wanted revenge on America for not picking a side. They started to impress US sailors which lead to the War of 1812.

  • Alien and Sedition Acts

    Alien and Sedition Acts
    John Adams signed this act. He wanted to strengthen the US security from other countries. This act was passed down by the Federalist congress. The laws included new powers to deport foreigners and making it hard to vote for the new immigrants. As a result, America is more independent and avoided other countries.

    War with Tripoli

    This war was a conflict with United States and Tripoli which is now known as Libya. This war is a naval war which means it happened on sea. During the following years, American warships fought in the waters around Tripoli, and, in 1803. Tripoli needed money but Thomas Jefferson refused which is why pirates from Tripoli started to attack. In 1805, Jefferson signed a peace treaty and the US has increased its navy.

    Louisiana Purchase
    Louisiana was a territory that belonged to France. Thomas Jefferson wanted to buy the land to increase the land of America.The territory was 827,000 square miles. Jefferson bought the land for $15 million. He then sent Lewis and Clark to go explore the land and what it has. Their journey ended in the Pacific Ocean. The purchase of the territory made America more bigger.

    Great Britain were impressing US sailors and prevented US trade. James Madison signed the Declaration of War against Britain. US invaded Canada but failed to gain land. Britain came to Baltimore and then came to Washington DC and destroyed the White House. In 1815, There was a peace treaty signed and America has an identity to warn other countries not to interfere other countries.

    Monroe Doctrine
    After the War of 1812, James Monroe wanted America to be the top leader out of the other countries. He said that if any other countries interfere with another, America would have another war with them. An example would be if Europe invaded South America, US will have troops to go their and stop it. As a result, America became the power out of these countries and shaped its policy better.

    Tariff of Abominations
    During this time, people had to pay taxes in order to get better goods from factories. The South payed lots of money but lost some raw material. John Quincy Adams signed the Tariff of Abominations to help protect the factories of making goods. As a result, the South gained more of its raw materials and Foreign countries started buying fewer raw materials like cotton from the South.

  • Indian Removal Act

    Indian Removal Act
    The Indian Removal Act was signed into law by President Andrew Jackson on May 28, 1830,making the president to grant unsettled lands west of the Mississippi in exchange for Indian lands within existing state borders. There were five tribes that settled to the west. 4,000 Cherokee died in the Trail of Tears. Overall, America was protected by the Cherokee leader from fighting a war to protect president Jackson.
