Pinzon was born in Palos de la Frontera, Spain. He is the youngest of three brothers. They were named Martin Alonso and Fransisco Martin. All three brothers were explorers.

Pinzon Vicente helped capture foreign ships when he was only 15 years old. This is the first document we have of Pinzon today.

It was Columbus' first voyage to the new world and Pinzon Vicente got to be captain the Niña. His brother captained the Pinta and Columbus the Santa María.

Although Pinzon Vicente is not the official discoverer of Brazil he was the first to land there. A Portuguese explorer, Pedro Alvares Cabral is known as the discoverer of Brazil.

He was the first man to sail on the river. At that time the river was not called the amoson. So he called the River Río Santa María del Mar Dulce because of its fresh water which ran into the ocean.

In honor of his success and on behalf of Spain, Pinzón was appointed governor of Brazil.

Pinzon and de Solis did not have much luck on this voyage so they blambed each other and came bach less than a year after. What pinzon didn't know was that this was going to be his last voyage. He died 6 years later in 1514.

Pinzon died in Seville, Spain. How Pinzon died is uncertain. Still he is one of the mostskillful navigators of his time and remained respected by his King and his crew.
