As Christopher Columbus was set out on a voyage trying to find a new route for people to traverse through in order to get to the Indies, he found the New World and mistaken its inhabitants for Indians.

Vasco de Gama found a new trade route to India through the ocean. The discovery of this new route led to the Portuguese creating a long-lasting empire by supplying it regularly through this route.

While Hernan Cortes was on an expedition and went to the Yucatan peninsula and eventually found the Aztec Empire. After, teaming up with local enemy tribes he over took the Aztec Empire after the Battle of Tenochtitlán.
Giovanni de Verrazzano helps shape how the map looks
Giovanni de Verrazzano was sent by King Francis the First of France to go explore the New World in order to find a route towards the Pacific. Instead, Giovanni headed towards the north after arriving in what would be North Carolina.

Francis Drake became a slave trader during the 1560s and also raided Portuguese ships and took the slaves on their ship. These slaves would then power the great colonies in the new world.

Also called the "Verenigde Oostindische Compagnie", it was created to serve its purpose as trading, exploring, and colonization company.
Henry Hudson brings many new world products back to England.
Henry Hudson gets sent to explore to find another Asia trade route but through the Arctic Circle. Though through his voyages he finds the Native Americans and gives them diseases though he gets their technological advancements and foods.
Samuel de Champlain founds Quebec
Samuel de Champlain founds this city which makes it one of the oldest cities in Canada history. Quebec was made to establish a colony to where he can start selling his fur goods.

Samuel de Champlain explored the Great Lakes, Husdon Bay, and Lake Michigan during the 1630s. This expanded his knowledge to better maps.
James Cook encounters Christmas Island and Hawaii
James Cook is on his third voyage and he finds Hawaii and then finds Christmas Island. It was probably named that due to how close the day is when finding Christmas Island.
