Christopher Columbus First Sea BattleAt 24 Christopher boarded the Bechalla. They past a ship with Guillaume de Casenove, a famous french pirate. Other ship surrounded them. The pirates fought all day. Seven ships sank, inclueding four pirate ships and the Bechalla. Hundreds of men died. Christopher dove into the water and grabed a long oar. He floated on the oar to the shore of Laso, Portugal.

The boats were thrown all aroud the water. Columbus was afraid the ships would be lost. He saw King Ferdinnand and Queen Isabella. They had great honor in him. They even ask him to sit with them.

They searched for a water way in the Indian Ocean. Columbus stopped off at Martinique and then sailed towards Hispaniola. The govener of Hispaniola didn't alow Columbus to come back. He sailed along the Caribbean coast of Central America for a year.
