due to the sickness and disease of the settlers, half of them died. but no one died before the bully he was the first death on the ship. showing the pilgrims should have hope that god will save them.

most everyone on the ship when they finally land in america are sick and they landed too far up north. but several people who remained healthy went and took care of them and half survived.

the bully was a guy on the ship who cursed the sickly and down people who look as they will keel over, than he was "killed by god" which proves his existence to them.
