  • Proclamtion of 1763

    After going into debt from the Seven Years' War, the British advised a document to stop colonial movement to the west of the Appalachian Mountains to stop anoher war from starting with Indian [ Native Americans ].
    The colonial people became very angry and ignored the proclamation , that same year the poniac war started (1763-60)
  • Sugar Act

    This tax was intended to pay of the debt of French and Indian War, by taxing the people on molasses.
    Colonist in boston then refused to buy british goods.
  • Currency Act

    the act said that the colonists could not trade with there own currncy becasue the govenment wanted to protect the traders and that made a shortages of gold, sliver, bronze coins for the for the colonists. they got made that they couldn't use there paper money so they started to boycott british goods till they repealed the act
  • The Stamp Act

    It was an act that made colonies pay for a stamp that they had to put on every papre, such as a newspaper, and legal documents.The king put this act to earn more money.
    In reaction the colonies dint want to pay for it and even acted violent about it.
  • Quartering Act

    the acts made colonist share there homes with solider because there was not enough room in the barracks. the colonist were irate about the new acts because they were already being taxed and now they have to share there homes after a while in the new england states they didnt house soliders because soliders would throw people out there beds at night.
  • Declaratory Act

    The British wanted to affirm power to legislate to Colonial America and Great Britian.It also stated they had every right to tax colonies.
    William Pitt (elder) argued that it was unconstitutional,but many colonist didnt react right away because they were to busy celebrating the repeal of the stamp act.
  • The Repeal of The Stamp Act

    Benjamin Franklin and colonies stared to protest and boycott the stamp act. The king had to repeal the act because of all the protest and violence that the act created.
    The colonies where happy about this because it mean that they had won.
  • Townshend Act

    The townshend acts were named after Charles Townshend which was the chancellor meaning he is responseble for raising and lowering taxation. The townshend acts implied the taxation of glass,lead,paints,paper and tea in 1767.
  • Boston Massacre

    The boston massacre, started with a mob of bostoner's that were protesting the taxation as usaual throwing stickes and stones. But in this case one of the british red coats opened fire and choas pursued and five colinest were killed in the procees.
  • Tea Act

    British put a tax on imported tea so colonist would buy the companys tea.
    Sam Adams and John Hancock had established the "Sons of Liberty " (1765); they took their crew (some dressed as natives) and threw 9000 pounds of tea into the Boston Harbour.
  • Intolerable Acts

    British Action: The Intolerable Acts were meant to punish the Massachusetts colonist for the Boston Tea Party. Colonial Reaction: They saw the acts as a violation of their constitutional rights. The acts promoted sympathy for Massachusetts and encouraged other colonies to form the FIrst Continetal Congress.
  • Battles of Lexington and Concord

    British Action: The British Army was supposed to secretly destroy rebel military supplies the night before. In the morning the first shot was fired known as the "Shot heard round the world." Colonial Reaction: The colonist fought back, which was the starting of the Revolution War.
