Muhammad was born in Mecca and lived there for roughly the first 52 years of his life (c. 570–622).

When Muhammad was five or six, his mother took him to Yathrib, but his mother took ill and died on journel back. His paternal grandfather started to take care of him, and he learned the rudiments of statecraft from his grandfather.

When young boy, Muhammad worked as a shepherd to help pay his keep (his uncle was of modest means). In his teens he sometimes traveled with Abu Talib, who was a merchant, accompanying caravans to trade centers.

During this journey, in a place called Bushra a very interesting incident took place, which caused Abu Talib to return Muhammad to Makkah.

In his early twenties, Muhammad entered the service of a wealthy Meccan merchant, a widow named Khadija bint Khawalayd. The two were distant cousins. Muhammad carried her goods to the north and returned with a profit.

Khadijah was the first wife and follower of the Islamic Prophet Muhammad. She is commonly regarded by Muslims as the "Mother of the Believers".

Muhammad felt an overpowering presence and instructed to recite words of beauty and force that he and others attributed them to God.

He started to share his revelation on the mountain. People didn’t agree with him and he had to flee Mecca.

Muhammad and his followers expanded from there.

Muhammad fell ill and suffered for several days with fever, head pain, and weakness. He died on Monday, 8 June 632, in Medina, at the age of 62 or 63, in the house of his wife Aisha.
