    Creation of United Nations
    United Nations: In Pursuit of Peace Video In 1942, during the Second World War, representatives from 26 countries united to fight the Axis Power. After the war, in 1945, delegates from 50 nations convened in San Fransisco to create the United Nations Charter; Poland signed soon after and became the 51st original country to be apart of the UN. The United Nation was the first long term international peace organization.

    The North Atlantic Treaty Organization was created with the signing of the Washington Treaty. There were twelve original signing countries, which later grew to 28; these countries agreed to work together for peace and security through politics and military strategies.     What started with Roosevelt as a project to increase jobs, became an important aspect of President Eisenhower's time in office. The Federal Aid Highway Act commissioned the building of 41,000 miles of highway across the United States. With more job opportunities and less travel time, new highways would allow the workforce to expand and organizations to increase their reaches across different areas.

    WalmartSam Walton, a retail store owner, founded Walmart Discount City in Rogers, Arkansas. This was one of the first large retail chains that offered "consistently low prices." Walmart later changed the entire work industry, becoming the fastest company to reach $1 billion in sales. Since its inception, Walmart has set numerous precendents for large-scale grocery/retail stores and has become one of the leading faces of corporate America.

    Equal Pay Act
    Signed by President Kennedy, the Equal Pay Act required employers to pay men and women equally for "substantially equal work performed in the same establishment." This act focused on finding workplace equality for women and it was a huge step for the Women's Rights Movement.     Civil Rights Act of 1964
    Similar to the Equal Pay Act, the Civil Rights Act prohibited workplace discrimination based on race or gender in the form of hiring, firing, or setting wages. The passing of this bill meant measurable progress towards equality in all aspects of life, most obviously the workplace. This went even further than just gender equality and included race, age, color and religion, creating more equal organizations.
