Sal Meets Dean
Sal meets Dean and decides to go West. -
Sal goes west
Sal decides to go west to Denver. First he goes up north and gets stuck so he then has to go back down to where he started and try again. This time it works and he catches many rides with different people. He endures the harsh weather and meets another hitch hiker with whom he decides to stay with for a while. -
Sal gets to Denver
He goes to a friends appartment but that friend is not there. Sal then goes to central city with some other friends and they go out and party. -
San Francisco Bound
Sal decides to go to San Fransisco. He meets a girl names lee Ann and they go down south to stay with one of her cousins and pick cotton. Sal is not very good at picking cotton and ends up heading back home. -
Sal arrives home
Sal gets home and finds out that dean has just been there. He waits for Dean to come back. This time Dean shows up with Marylou. This is where Dean starts to come off a little bit crazier. Dean asks Sal to have sex with Marylou while he is watching. Sal agrees but later on backs out of it. They all decide to go toNew Orleans. -
Sal, Dean and Marylou go to California
They take turns driving and at one point they run naked through a field. They steal food along the way. When they get there Dean leaves Sal and Marylou. Later he ends back up with Dean and then decides to go east again. -
New Orleans
Sal, Dean, Marylou and Ed all are in New Orleans. They get high and party. Sal learns to jump freight trains and Dean becomes attracted to Bull Lees daughter. They then go to San Fransisco. -
Sal goes back to Denver
Sal and Dean decide to go back to denver again. They are going to look for Deans father then they are going to go to Italy. They hitch rides and Dean talks about IT and the other passangers think he is crazy. When they get there Sal and Dean go to one of Sals old friends house. No one there likes Dean because he is crazy and gets to close to the neighbors youngest daughter. Dean steals cars and he and Sal then have to flee Denver. -
trip to Chicago
Dean and Sal pick up a cadillac to drive back to Chicago. They pick up some boys on the way. Dean drives very fast and ends up in a ditch. Dean continues to drive fast so Sal sits in the back seat. The make it to Chicago. -
Sal goes to Denver
"In the spring of 1949 I had a few dollars saved from my GI education checks and I went to Denver, thinking of settling down there. I saw myself in Middle America, a patriarch. I was lonesome." (pg. 179) -
Mexico
Dean and sal and others go to Mexico. They end upgoing to a whore house. Then they go toMexico City and sal gets sick,Dean saves him. -
girls
dean marries Inez but then leaves her for Camille. Sal ends up disowening Dean in New York and then Sal finds a girl to marry in NY. They then go to a concert but Dean is not allowed in so they leave him in the street and that is the last time Sal sees Dean.
