Sal is going to college and lives with his aunt. He is also writing a novel at this time. -
Sal and Dean
Sal meets Dean Moriarty. Sal thinks that Dean is like a hero and can get him out of the rut he is in. -
West Bound
Sal and all of his friends decide to head west and meet in Denver. Sal thinks that this is a great idea and decides to go. -
Chicago
Sal makes it to Chicago but only has Denver on his mind so he only stops briefly before he finds another ride. -
Flat bed truck
Sal gets a ride with a couple farm boys. On the flat bed of the truck are a diverse group of people. This is one of the best rides Sal ever has. Everyone on the truck is so excited for something new. They smoke and drink and have the time of there lives on the truck. -
Cheyenne
Sal get off of the truck with Montana Slim in Cheyenne. Its night time when they arrive and they go to all the bars and drink and listen to music. -
Denver
Sal finally arrives in Denver. Where he drinks and does drugs with friends. He likes the bums and diverse culture in denver. -
Central City
Sal and a bunch of friends have a party in this cabin after cleaning it. There are lots of girls and drinking. During the party Sal goes out to bars in the town and listens to the Beat music. -
San Fransico
Sal is now in San Fransico. He meets Remi and Lee Ann here. First he tries to write a play for Hollywood but it didnt work. Then he gets a job with Remi being a night gaurd at some barracks. -
Terry and L.A.
After sal loses his job in San Fran, he heads south to L.A. where he meets Terry at a bus stop. They end up really liking each other and they live together close to Terrys family. For a while Sal hangs around her brother and Sal loves that he always says "Manana". He ends up picking cotton to survive. But Terry ends up living with her family and Terry and Sal say goodbye. -
Headed Home
Sal heads home to New Jersey. However when he gets there Dean is already gone. But he stays there and waits for his friends to arrive. -
Furniture Trips
Sal, Marylou, Dean, and Ed make serveral trips to deliver furniture for Sals brothers. During this time Sal realizes that Dean is "Crazier" -
New Orleans
Sal, Dean, Ed, and Marylou, are now in New Orleans where they find Bull and Jane. During this time Bull tells Sal to not follow Dean because Dean is crazy. -
California Bound
Dean, Marylou, and Sal Decide to go to California. Along they way they are on drugs and flash other drivers. They also stop along the road and Dean runs around naked. -
San Francisco without Dean
Dean, Marylou, and Sal are now in San Francisco. However Dean leaves Marylou and Sal all alone. During this time Sal realizes that Marylou doesnt like him and is just using him to make Dean Jealous. -
Dean returns
Dean comes back to Marylou and Sal. They all go to Camilles house. -
Sal leaves San Francisco
Sal decides he is tired of San Fran AGAIN and heads back east. -
Denver
Sal makes his way into Denver. However he has no friends there this time and he hates it. -
Back To San Francisco
Sal get money from this rich women and goes back to San Fran so he can be with Dean. -
Talk of Italy
Sal and Dean talk about going to Italy, and they decide that they are going to go. -
Dean is criticized
A bunch of women get into a discussion about Dean being the center of all of the problems. Sal defends him however calls him a "holly goof" -
Dean's missing dad
Dean and Sal head to Denver to look for Dean's missing dad. -
Chicago
Sal and Dean have to leave Denver because Dean stole cars. They head to Chicago in a Cadilac. -
New York
Sal and Dean are now back in New York. -
No more Italy
Sal and Dean are no longer going to Italy. -
Leaving New York for Mexico
Sal is leaving New York. He is not happy any where. Sal is going to Mexico. -
Loving Mexico
Sal is now in Mexico with Dean. Sal LOVES Mexico. -
Visions of Dean
Sal gets high one day and thinks that Dean is God. -
Mexico City
Sal, Dean, and Stan head to Mexico city. -
Back to New York once agian
Sal leaves Mexico and heads back home to New York. -
Dean Arrives in New York
Dean is now back in New York with Sal. Sal thinks that Dean gets crazier and more insane every time he sees him. -
Dean is back in San Francisco
Dean leaves Sal in New York and he goes back to San Fran. -
Sal meets Laura
Sal meets the "perfect" women, Laura. He says that this is the girl he has been looking for the whole time. -
Sal and Laura talk about San Francisco
Sal and his girl think about moving to San Fran. Dean wants to bring them to San Fran so he goes to New York. However when Dean gets there Sal and Laura cant go to San Fran. Dean heads back to San Fran. While Sal and Laura stay in New York. -
The End
Sal is with Laura in New York and is thinking about Dean. Dean is now in San Fran.
