    On April 19, 1995 a rental truck was parked outside the Alfred P. Murrah federal buliding in Oklahoma city. The rental truck was filled with explosives. Moments later the explosives went off destroying half of the buliding. The explosion killed 168 people and injured more than 500 were injured. This was the deadly terrorist attack on U.S soil before 9/11.
  • Timothy McVeigh responsible for bombing

    Timothy McVeigh responsible for bombing
    Three days after the explosion federal authorities arrest Timothy mcVeigh for the bombing. McVeigh was already in police custody because 2 hours after the bombing he was arrested in a traffic stop for driving with out a license plate. His co-conspirator turns himself in in Herington, Kansas. This is important because this is when the people responsible are caught.

    Indicted on murder and conspiracy charges
    McVeigh and and his co-conspirator Terry Nichols are indicted on charges of murder and conspiracy charges. McVeigh's trial does not start until April 24, 1997. Nichols trial didn't start until November 2,1997. This is important because it shows the length of period since the bombing till the trails actually start.

    McVeigh was convicted of 11 counts of murder, conspiracy and using a weapon of mass destruction. On June 2, 1997 he was sentenced to death. McVeigh was executed by lethal injection on June 11, 2001. This is important because it shows what consequences he had to pay for his actions.

    Remembering the bombing
    At the Oklahoma city national memorial there was a ceremony held to remember those who lost their life during the bombing. There was a 168 second silence for the 168 people that lost their lives. Many people spoke at this event including former president Bill Clinton who was president during the bombing. This is important because it shows how through this rough time the community pulled together to get through.
