  • Bully on the Ship

    Bully on the Ship
“To smite this young man with a grievous disease, of which he died in a desperate manner, and so was himself the first that was thrown overboard. Thus his curses light on his own head, and it was an astonishment to all his fellows for they noted it to be the just hand of God upon him”. The first problem the Pilgrams experienced was the bully on the ship. This bully purposely cursed people around him to get them sick. God helped them out and made the bully sick and he eventually died.
  • The ship begins to fall apart

The ship begins to fall apart
"They would caulk them as well as they could, and though with the working of the ship they would not long keep staunch [watertight], yet there would otherwise be no great danger, if they did not overpress her with sails. So they committed themselves to the will of God and resolved to proceed” Another problem the Pilgrams experienced was the ship breaking, They had to find things around the boat to fix the main beam on the ship. They used caulk and an iron screw and they continued their journey.
  • Stuck in the storm

    Stuck in the storm
“And in one of them, as they thus lay at hull in a mighty storm, a lusty young man called John Howland, coming upon some occasion above the gratings was, with a seele [sudden lurch] of the ship, thrown into sea; but it pleased God that he caught hold of the topsail halyards which hung overboard and ran out at length” The pilgrams experienced terrible weather throughout their jounrey at sea. Many got sick and died but they survived and went to find land.
  • Wrong piece of land

    Wrong piece of land
“Being thus arrived in a good harbor, and brought safe to land, they fell upon their knees and blessed the God of heaven who had brought them over the vast and furious ocean, and delivered them from the perils and miseries thereof, again to set their feet on the firm and stable earth, their proper element…” The problem the pilgrams learned t overcome was to keep their heads high even if they didnt land where they wanted to. They had landed in Cape Cod, which was far from their destination.
  • Saviors

    Saviors
“And yet the Lord so upheld these persons as in this general calamity they were not at all infected either with sickness or lameness” The problem the pilgrams faced here was they were getting very sick and only a few people could take care of them. Those few people never got sick and they helped everyone else get better. They helped them get dressed, they fed them, and they did their laundry. God helped them get well again and they rewarded those who helped.
