  • Bully on the Ship

    Bully on the Ship
In Bradfords short story, there are many problems faced. One of the first problems is diseases. Majority of the people on the ship were very ill. There was a man on the ship who took advantage of the sick people and decided to bully then. Later on the man caught the diseases and died. Bradford explains that God showed how much he cared for the Pilgrims when the man died. "But it pleased God before they came half seas over, to smite this young man with grievous disease." (Bradford 29)
  • The Main Beam

    The Main Beam
After the bully on the ship died, the people thought that things would get a little better. Little did they know they would be hit with an even bigger problem. This problem was much more life threatening. A beam on the ship had cracked. Then suddenly there was a screw on the ship that had fixed the beam. They believed that God had given them the screw and saved them all.
  • Falling Overboard

    Falling Overboard
The rocky waves on the oceans made it difficult for everyone to walk around with out being knocked down. One unlucky man, named John, found himself being pushed extremely hard onto the other side of the boat. John was thrown off the ship. The people were very doubtful that he would make it back to the ship because of the violent waves. A man threw a rope out to the shore and shockingly John got pulled back in. "Til he was hauled up by the same rope to the brim of the water." (Bradford 30)
  • Strong Winds

    Strong Winds
While on the Mayflower many disaterous things occured. Right before making it to the land everyone on the ship had to deal with the insanely strong winds. Strong winds were a problem because it made the boat rock back and forth a lot making it seem as thought the boat would turn over. Luckily, everyone on the mayflower made it to the harbour due to God watching over them. "They rid to safety." (Bradford 31)
