    Mayflower sets off with passengers from Speedwell
    This event marks the official beginning of the Maylfowers journey westward. The reason this is the official beggining is because the Mayflower was intended to have a partner on the voyage; a ship named the Speedwell. However, after the sister ships set sail, the Speedwell had multiple leaks early in the journey. So the passengers from Speedwell boarded her sister ship, and the Mayflower continued the journey by itself.
  • Cape Cod sighted

    Cape Cod sighted
    After a long journey filled with struggles and horrifiing storms, the Mayflower finally sees the shores of Cape Cod. At this point in their voyage the pilgrims had overcome many challenges and life threateing situations. these include storms and the deaths of multiple passengers. One of them very ironicly being the first to go. "But to omit other things (that i may be breif) after long beating at the sea they fell with that land which is called Cape Cod"

    During the winter of 1620-1621, more than half of the people who made it to Cape Cod had died. "But that which was most sad and lamentable was, that in two or three months time half of their company died, wanting house and comforts. being infected with scurvy and other diseases which this long voyage had given them" Page 31

    Indians boldly step out to greet the pilgrims
    For a long time the Native Americans hardly ever made conctact with the pilgrims. They would stand at a distance to the pilgrims, and quickly run away as soon as they felt scared or threatened. untill one day a Native American boldly stepped out of the shoadows, and spoke english to therm. "But about the 16th of march, a certain indian came boldly amongst them and spoke to them in broken English, which they could well understand but marveled at." (page 32)

    The indians and the pilgrims make a treaty that lasts for 24 years. they become friends and shared food and played games togeths. neither culture ran out of food during this time. it was a time of trust and friendship between the two groups.
