Odysseus journeys to the underworld to find the prophet, Tiresias. Tiresias tells him that all of his men will die, but Odysseus will make it home. Odysseus keeps this information to himself and leaves the underworld.

The sirens were mythical creatures that lead men to their deaths. Odysseus had his men put beeswax in their ears to avoid hearing their song. Odysseus also told his men to tie him the mast of the ship so that he could listen to the song of the sirens without dying. Luckily, there were no losses.

Scylla was a monster with many heads, and she was known for eating men. Charybds was a monster known for creating huge whirlpools three times a day. Odysseus lead his men on-wards without telling them they would die. Men were lost.

The men land on the island where Helios keeps his sacred cattle. Odysseus warns his men not to kill the cattle, but end up doing it anyways. The remainder of Odysseus's men die at sea after Zeus destroys their ship.

Odysseus washes up on Calypso's island. He remains there for seven years before Zeus sends Hermes to tell Calypso to release him. Odysseus then once again sets out for home on a raft.
