Daines sink their navy
When the Germans invaided Denmark, King Christain X decieded to surender against the Germans by blowing up their navy because if they had not blow up their navy the Germans would use it against them. While the nevy was being blown up Kirsti woke up so Kirsti's mother said "Imagine such fireworks for a little girl". The mother said that because that day was Kirsti's birthday so Kirsty thought the fireworks were for her and the mother said that because if Kirsti knew what was really happening -
Mrs Hirsch loses her buisness
Kirsiy loses/brakes a button on her jacket so Kirsiy and her sister Annemarie go to Mrs Hirsch shop that sells buttons. When they went it was closed and on the door there was a sighn that was writen in German. -
Most stores get closed
The german solilders closed lots of the stores making it very hard to surevive. In the bhook Kirsti talks about how much she misses pink frosting and cupcakes. -
When the 3 girls get stopped on the corner
On every corner of Copenhagen there were german soilders. One day after school Ellen, Annemarie and Kirsti were racing home from school when they were stoped on the corner by 1 of the soilders. Kirsty wasen't scared because she was so little she didn't understand how serious the soilders are. Kirsiy gave the soilders a no attation and was cute/rude. 1 of the soilders said Kirsti rememinded him of his daughter. Kirsti's attidue helps Annemarie do something important at the end of the story. -
When Nazi's take list of names from rabbi
When the Nazi's came to Copinhagen they needed to find all the Jewish people and to do that they found a rabbi and made him give them the list of a the Jewish people in Copinhagen. When they took the list they saw that the Rosens were on that list. -
The Rosens run
To make sure the Rosens are safe, Ellen hid with the johansons in their apartment. In the middle of the night 1 Nazi man came to the johnsons house to tell them that the Rosen family is missing. So the johnsons pretended that Ellen was their child. -
Uncle Henrick's house
The Nazi's were looking everywhere for the Rosen family so the Johsons took a train to their uncle Henricks house away from Copinhagen. -
Aunt Birte's death
Across from uncle Henricks house was Sweden but to get to Sweden you have to take a long boat ride. Many jewish people gathered in uncle Henricks house. They knew if the Nazi's saw many people in a house it would draw sispition so they pretended that their aunt dies and they're having a funeral. Inside the casket/coffen was blankets and coats. -
Into the woods
The plan was deliver a package to uncle Henrick. Annemarie knew the package was very inmortant. Annemarie's mother was going to deliver the package herself but she sprained/broke her ankel. So Annemarie was brave and said she would do it. Annemarie's mother said "if you gets stopped act like a stupid little girl." On the way Annemarie does get stopped. Annemarie desided to act like Kirsti. -
What was in the package.
Inside the package was a hankercheif. The reason why the hankercheif was so imortant is because the hanmkercheif was covered in a substance that effects dogs. Danish and Swedish scientices knew that the nazis now had dogs that could smell people hidding. The nazis used these dogs to catch Jewish people. Many people used hankercheifs in these times, so when the dogs smell the hankercheif they will lose their track of smell. -
The Rosen's make it to Sweden
Now that Annemarie gave uncle Henrick the hankercheif the Rosen's safley made it to Swedin. -
Annemaries parents tell the truth about Lise's
Annemarie's parent knew that she was old enough to know actully how Lise died. In the Johnson's family veryone knew peter worked in the risistance but Annemarie and kirsti didn't know Lise did too. One day the resistance was having a meeting and their working place got descovered by SS so they ran and one of the SS saw her running and ran her over with his car. -
Peter dies
Nazis found peter helping Jewish people because he's part of the resistance. Peter was shot dead. Peter and Lise were killed because of being in the resictance. -
The war ended
Finally the war ended and the Johnsons went back to their house in Copinhage. -
The Necklace
When the Johnson's family got home Annemarie got ellens necklace and put it around her nack untill Ellens return.
