    picture WWI's spark was when Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Hungry was assassinated by a Serian. Russia, France, and Britain sided with Serbia due to alliances while Germany sided with Austria-Hungary.

    picture The allied powers dug deep trenches to avoid enemy gunfire. Sometimes, troops were ordered to "over the top" which meant that everyone charged the enemy trenches. The only problem with the "over the top" approch was that new fully automatic machineguns tore thorugh enemy troops. Not only were soldiers killed, but millions of civilions were also killed.

    picture Tsars had ruled Russia for hundreds of years. They were absolute rulers. In the early 1900's Russians grew unhappy with there goverment. in 1917 a revolution forced Nicolas II to give up the throne.

    picture After Tsar, Nicholas II, stepped down from power, the rebels started the Communist Party. Vladimir Lenin led this party as dictator. Communism is when the government controls buisnesses and everone has the same pay, but usually isn't enough. After Lenin, Joseph Stalin became dictator, who wmade life very strict and he killed more than 10 million of his own people.

    picture The middle and late 1920s were great prosperity in America. The econemy was growing rapidly. in the 1920s the US was the richest country in the world. Americans bought many new items for themselves at this time.

    picture It started right after WWI ended when everybody took money out of the bank at once which caused the banks to close. This caused the stock market to crash. Most peole had to live in hoovervilles, areas with houses made with anything the people who lived their could find.

    pictureIn 1929 the stock market crashed. the econemy went from boom to bust. One forth of the people in america could not find jobs. They had to sell many things in order to survive. 1 million people were homeless. this was one of the hardest times for America.

    picture After President Hoover, Franklin D, Rosevelt took over. FDR gave multiple jobs to get everything back on track. He built monuments & national parks. FDR also finished the Hoover dam. This, however, put the US into dept for us to solve.

    picture From 1939 to 1941, WWIII went on without the us. That all changed when Japan Bombed Pearl Harbor, Hawiia. This bombing pulled the US into the war. After Germany Surrendered, Japan fought on. THe current President, Harry S Truman decided that invading Japan was too dangerous so he used the atomic bomb, a new weapon that wiped out both Hiroshima and Nagasaki with just two bombs.

    picture Japan bomed Pearl harbor , a navy base in Hawii.The Japanese bomed pearl harbor to make the US join the war. The US was not going to join the war because they didn't have enough money. They had to join the war after they were bomed. The US was on the Allied side.

    picture During WWII, Hitler & the Nazis tried t owipe out groups of people, mostly Jews. They sent captured Jews & other minorityies t oconcertration camps. At these camps, the Nazis worked them to death, tortured them or simply killed them. About 6 million Jews were killed during this time which was called the Holocaust, Nazi Germany's mass killing of Jewish people.

    picture Commuism ve Capitalism. The Sovits was commuists and the Americans were Cpitalists. Commuism controlled the people and there money. The Capitaism was for the people run by the people, so they could control themselves and make there own desisions.

    picture With all of this communist comotion, North Korea (communist) invaded South Korea (non-communist) The US and other democratic contries sent troops to South Korea to help. Where as the US was helping the south , China (Communist) was helping the North. the war ended as a stalemate in 1953.
