Dumont ofganized about 150 First Nations and Metis fighters to ambush soldiers from the govenment at a place 20km away from the capital of Batoche, Fish Creek. The soldiers were taken by surprise and in the end, both sides retreated.

Chief Fine Day took Cree and Assiniboine people and met a government military force at Cut Knife. They had surrounded the government forces but Poundmaker decided not to persue them and let them go.

Louis Riel withdrew all troops to defend Batoche which was a mistake as all the government forces could focus on one spot and laid siege to Batoche. In the end, the Metis and First Nations were defeated.

North West Mounted Police caught up with Big Bear's Cree warriors after a recent battle. Almost out of ammunition and supplies, the Cree fled and released all of their hostages.
