Oba Adefunmi started in a baptist church but, when he was a young adult he left to find out more about the African religions. He visited Cuba and Haiti to learn more before settling in New York to help the cultures. -
Adefunmi I traveled to Nigeria and was named "Oba" which means ruler. In his time there, he educated others on what he was doing and some followed his lead.

African Americans gained the independence to create their own kingdom named Oyotunji in Sheldon, South Carolina. -
After the kingdom came together, they took the historical and cultural items and traditions to allow more information to be known. The African Theological Archministry is made to get rid of the negative stereotypes of African Americans. -
There are now nineteen centers of the African American Theological Archministry. Many people have joined and helped them grow. -
The African Theological Archministry has created a festival that people can come and visit and learn more about the cultures and books that were written. It has also taken in people from the coast of South Carolina.
