Neolithic Timeline (9000 B.C. - 3000 B.C.)

The Beginning of a New Era

The Beginning of a New Era
The Neolithic Era starts. A time where a small group of people decided that people decided that instead of hunting, they can plant seeds that will grow into food to feed themselves. I put this in my timeline, because the way anything started is always important. If people hadn't decided to farm and just continued to kill animals, who knows where we would be!

Sickles, and Knives, and Hammers- Oh My!

Sickles, and Knives, and Hammers- Oh My!
Soon after, tools are being invented. Sickles, cutting knives, and axes and hammers made of stone are being invented to make farming easier. I put this in my timeline because many of the old tools they used, we have newer versions of today! Those tools have inspired people to make many more tools to tackle bigger or small jobs and make them easier.
  • 8000 BCE

    Rise of the Domestication

    Rise of the Domestication
Domestication begins, and instead of killing animals right away, people catch the animals to raise them, and eventually use them as livestock. I put this in my timeline because livestock is also a very important thing. The foods we get from the animals gives us protein, good blood levels, and makes us healthy and strong.

    Making Progress

    Making Progress
Some time later, people begin to cultivate barley and wheat. Domestication and herding of goats, pigs, and sheep for food was found in Aegean and Greece. Eggplant cultivation also starts, as well as cattle and poultry domestication. I put this in my timeline because these advancements led to larger food groups and more forms of vitamins and protein to make our bodies healthier and stronger.

Copper and Rice- Both are Nice

Copper and Rice- Both are Nice
Rice cultivation was found in Asia, and the first signs of copper smelting were observed. This iron would be used later to make tools that would be stronger, and last longer. I decided to put this in my timeline, because not only is rice now a big thing in Asia, but the smelting of copper would eventually lead to better tools being made.
  • 4500 BCE

    Making Houses

    Making Houses
More areas start practicing farming. Houses are made with wooden sticks woven together and then covered with clay and mud. More people live in villages, and some forms of government develop. I decided to put this in my timeline, because at this time we started forming houses and settling into areas to grow crops, rather than traveling to hunt for food. This made a big change in how we live today.
  • 4000 BCE

    The Plough

    The Plough
A simple hand-held plough was made, 1,000 years before a heavier version was invented and functioned via Oxen. I put this on the timeline, because these ploughs inspired the romans to make their own version, the Dutch to improve its shape, a Berwickshire man named John Small to make it modern, the Industrial Revolution to make it steam-powered, and the early 1900's for it to shape into the Tractor plough we know today!
  • 3700 BCE

A New Dawn, A New Age

A New Dawn, A New Age
The Neolithic Period moves into the Copper Age, where people start to use copper and iron to make better farming materials to use. I put this on the timeline, because the Copper Age was a very big step to modern tools being made, with even more jobs to do and even stronger materials.
